Welcome to our stakeholder consultation page

Here, you can learn more about our stakeholders' priority topics and provide your views on what you'd like us to focus on in the future.
Our stakeholder engagement programme is continually developing to take account of the feedback you’ve given us.

The National Gas Transmission network has been the backbone of the energy system for the last 50 years, delivering around 90.5bcm of gas every year.  That’s enough to fill the Albert Hall 914,000 times.

The way the network is used has transformed since it was designed and built, with changes to both how gas is supplied and used.  We’re committed to making sure it continues to meet the changing demands of our customers and stakeholders.  To help us, we’re continuing to build an inclusive stakeholder engagement programme that focuses on what’s important to you.

This work builds on the Future of Gas programme.

During our recent 'Shaping the future of the Gas National Transmission Network' events we covered key topics you've told us is important to you.  To access the material, please click the relevant link below .

  • Welcome address - Who we are and what we do
  • How we’ve performed – An overview of how we’ve performed bought to life with case studies.  Please click here for the outputs summary document
  • Future of Gas update – A playback of the project from what we’ve heard including key stats
  • Market attractiveness and accessibility – We’d like to understand what improvements you’d like to see in the market arrangements that support the transport of gas across the transmission network
  • Innovation – We’d like to review with you our findings on the Future of Gas decarbonisation work, i.e. heat, gas in transport, CCS and hydrogen.
  • How we plan the network - We’d like your views on our current approach and assumptions to modelling the network, what information would help you and what should we do differently?
  • Valuing risk – We’ll share our current thinking on how we will prioritise the work on our assets through assigning risk values against key categories (Safety, Environment and Reliability) and explore your priorities for each one.
  • Compressor strategy: ‘Future optionality’ – To become compliant with new environmental legislation, we will need to make some changes to the way we manage and run our compressor fleet. We want to work with you to understand how our decisions could impact you and what you would expect us to consider in making these decisions
